Personal Life ;)
Alex Qiang Chen comes from the tiny red dot in the world; Singapore. He speaks a number of languages including English, Mandarin and Teochew. During Alex's free time he likes to get involve with hiking, photography, various kinds of music activities, and he loves sports such as swimming and jogging which he actively does them at least once a week. Occasionally, he also likes to play badminton.
Music is where Alex's childhood passion lies. Like most kid, Alex was a guitarist and a singer in a band. He plays fluently in guitar, piano and drums, however, he knows how to play 11 musical instruments including a Chinese instruments called Erhu. Alex is mainly trained as a classical guitarist and he obtains an ABRSM grade 8. He also has formal training in POP/Jazz piano and drums which he was trained for a few years. At one point, Alex was very active in Singapore's music industry performing in a number of restaurants and hotels, and he was sponsored by Singapore National Arts Council between 1998 and 2001 where he played for a number of play groups. Sadly, he had to leave behind his musical achievements in 2001 when he was enlisted for National Service.
Alex served in the Singapore Armed Forces for 2 years 4 months for his National Service, and in 2004, he left Singapore to further his studies in the United Kingdom. Concurrently, Alex picked up a keen interest in Web designing and Web technologies, and he created KaKiNan.com in 2005 to unite his relatives from all over the world. Then in 2006, Alex developed his own blog called Alex's World! which he still frequently blogs about his travel trips, photography and his perspective on Web technologies and life.
